A news published by Ghana Web on Thursday, 3 May 2018 indicated that over 50 wooden structures and ‘containers’ were destroyed Thursday afternoon at Abofu, a slum within Achimota in Accra.
Abofu is a popular slum in Achimota; it serves as home for hundreds of street hawkers and other people who do menial jobs in the capital.
Eyewitnesses who spoke to Atinka FM explained that the fire was caused by a gas cooker in one of the wooden structures.
Upon hearing this, World Inspiring Network together with Barima TV moved ahead to provide immediate support to the residents. Items donated includes; clothes, food items, stationery, money etc. This project took effect on 12th May, 2018.
